Helga is a frivolous German student in her mid-20s who spends 5 years in the States studying and working. In her autobiographical book she recounts her life in America; tells stories of what is means to be dating for survival and the many (life) lessons she learned along the way – the good, the bad and the ugly – in search for a meal and love.

What’s it all about?

Dating for Survival is about Helga and her many first dates, which she uses to get the occasional hot meal since her funds are stretched. Since she accepts any date, Helga has a string of unbelievable encounters that will have you laugh and shake your head in disbelief.
